Sweet Home Alabama
I'm in Huntsville, AL for training this week. All work stuff, some interesting, some boring. But seriously; Worst. Flight. Ever. (logistics speaking. Kinematics were OK) I had to fly through Houston, and the flight there was nice. Due to booking issues, I got upgraded to first class. Quite nice, with real glasses and plates instead of plastic. And the extra space was very nice.
But then I landed in Houston and the troubles began. I realized things were going to be a bit off in "George Bush International Airport" . First the displays sent me to the wrong gate. Then I had to run to the real gate as the displays stated that the flight was on time. I tried going around the food area to avoid the extra distance and crowd, but that path took me outside the security area, so before I realized it, I had to go back through security. I kept running, now quite upset at the evil place, only to arrive and find out that the flight was not, in fact, on time, but VERY delayed. So, we waited a bit over an hour to board, and once on board, we waited another hour to take off.
Now, unbeknownst to me, but knownst to them, the airline had cancelled a previous flight from Houston to Huntsville and sent the passengers off to other planes to get them there. However, they had NOT sent their luggage with them. Instead, they put their luggage on my flight, and, as a result, had insufficient room for OUR luggage. My bags, with all my clothes, was intentionally left behind. Apparently, during the 2 hour wait for take off, they were unable to let us know and give us a chance to gather a few necessities (yes, I know, I should have packed a change of clothes in my carry-on). So Finally, yesterday, at 6:30pm, my bag was delivered.
God I hate that airport and everything it stands for. When I fly back on Friday, I'll be ready.
